Buy Windows XP

With Windows Vista out, Microsoft is looking to find a way to discontinue Windows XP to force users to upgrade to Windows Vista. Microsoft is facing considerable difficulties making users upgrade themselves because the users feel that Windows Vista is either too bloated with useless features or it doesn't have hardware and software compatibilities yet.

Users are even signing petitions to force Microsoft to keep supporting Windows XP. Microsoft usually will only create security updates and other patches for only a short while where there is a newer operating system out there. However, people really do think Windows XP is all they need. Recently, 12,600 people signed a petition to keep Microsoft supporting Windows XP.

As with everything else, we'll just need to sit tight and see what happens.

You can now install Windows XP and use it in a couple of ways. One way is to install a virtual machine software such as VMware. Another way is to use Apple's bootcamp software which comes with OS X leopard.

The ability to use Windows XP greatly expands OS X's power in the work place. Many companies still use Windows XP which makes it difficult for Mac users to install the proper applications but that has completely changed with Apple's use of Intel processors and allowing Windows XP. If you're a Mac user, be sure to check out this ability as it can be very useful.

Microsoft is trying hard to push Windows Vista which means they will stop producing Windows XP in the near future. This hopefully with force customers to switch over to Windows Vista. However, many businesses are against this move as a Vista upgrade will be expensive and time consuming.

There is actually a huge group of companies looking to change Microsoft's plans to end support for Windows XP in the future. It will be interesting to see what Microsoft does because it is potentially huge in terms of lost revenue if companies do not feel the need to switch to Windows Vista. Only the future will tell but for right now, Windows XP is the operating of choice.

Microsoft spend 5+ years developing Microsoft Vista which was supposed to be the next best thing in operating systems. However, it ended up being a semi flop because there was no good reason to switch other than experiencing fancier graphics.  Many people are even downgrading their Vista installation to Windows XP.

Vista still suffers form incompatibilities, bad drivers, and many other problems. However, you can downgrade to Windows XP if you follow certain instructions on informationweek.com. You can also run Windows XP along side with Windows Vista if you're still interested in keeping both.

Many people wonder what the difference is between Windows XP Pro and Windows XP Home. For most people, they will do just fine by going with Windows XP Home and saving the few bucks. This is because the Pro version only includes a few extra networking features which most people will never use.

Some people also believe that Windows XP Pro is actually more stable, but this has no basis. Windows XP Home and Pro are basically the same operating system. However, if you plan on using the computer for more than browsing the web such as work, then it might be a good idea to get Pro to make sure you have all the features you need.

Many people don't know that Windows XP is built on a stable platform based on Windows NT/2000.  Windows NT and 2000 were built for companies who needed a very stable platform to run servers and applications. Windows XP now uses this reliable platform to give consumers the same type of stability.

What does this mean? You'll experience less crashes and better performance. Windows XP has been out for years now and has been proven to be a fairly reliable operating system. It is so popular that many people are resisting moving to Windows Vista. This is because Windows XP is now very mature and doesn't have the bugs that Windows Vista has.
